Cakes are a time-honored, traditional part of celebrations. A birthday, anniversary, wedding, shower, or commemoration of any milestone would not be complete without the cake.

Cakes

We offer traditional chocolate or golden yellow birthday cakes with chocolate or white buttercream icing to serve any occasion, all custom decorated and personalized with your wishes. Add an extra special touch to traditional favorites with a creamy custard or fancy fruit filling or choose a specialty cake to fit your special occasion.

All of our cakes are custom made in accordance with your requests, freshly baked and decorated by the baker in the local delivery area, and hand-delivered to the honored recipients on the baker's delivery route. No two cakes will look or taste just alike. Each cake is a creation of the baker, subject to each baker's artistic interpretation. This is why each cake is always fresh, always hand-delivered and always special.

Sizes

Cakes come in basically four standard sizes: Round, Quarter Sheet, Half Sheet, and Full Sheet.

Cakes shown on this site are not perfectly to scale, but should give a reasonable idea of relative size.

We base our cake deliveries on serving size so that no one at the party is left out and everyone receives a slice of cake. Sometimes this may mean that we deliver a quarter sheet instead of a round to ensure the number of servings is accurate. We may also opt for a large round cake to serve 15 - 20 depending on the circumstances.

Generally, the following serving sizes can be expected.

Round - Serves 10 - 12
Quarter - Serves 15 - 20
Half - Serves 30 - 40
Full - Serves 70 - 80

Flavors

Traditional cakes are available with yellow or chocolate cake and white buttercream or chocolate frosting. We also offer creamy custard or fancy fruit fillings including: raspberry, strawberry, lemon, custard, mocha and chocolate filling for a slightly higher charge depending on the size of the cake.

For the cake connoisseur, we offer the freshest and finest specialty cakes available. Delicious black forest, German chocolate, or strawberry shortcake style cakes are a great way to say "thank you". Make someone smile and say cheesecake or share an old-fashioned carrot cake with a dear friend across the miles. Our cake deliveries will delight your gourmet food lovers everywhere.

You may also wish to order a cake of the baker's choice. This is normally the kind of yummy cake for which the bakery is famous in its local market. If you have a special request, just let us know. If our baker offers your requested specialty cake, we would be glad to make the arrangement for you. Additional charges may apply.

Specialty cakes generally do not have decorations or inscriptions, such as the cakes shown here. Writing on a cake like this would be quite the challenge. In some cases, we can make it work. If not, we will be sure to include your sentiment on a card with the delivery.

Also, different bakers will have different interpretations of what a carrot cake or strawberry shortcake should be, but each bakery will have the key elements of the specialty cake in their own version of these most delicious creations. For example, some bakers may put the strawberries in the layers of the cake so they can still decorate the top. Others may put the strawberries on top. This is how we can guarantee a wonderful custom gift, delivered fresh and delicious.

We ask that you please give us an alternate selection on all specialty cakes and fillings as not all types are available in all areas or in all seasons, and we would not want to delay the delivery of a gift for a special day. The same applies to rush orders. Flexibility of choice would be greatly appreciated.

Decorations

Traditional cakes and cakes with filling include customary decorations such as colored borders and trim, festive, frosting flowers, or simple shapes such as hearts or stars. Other decorative touches such as basket weave (as shown on the heart cakes) or artistic themes (such as the drawing of the ribbon) may be available at an extra charge.

While we have assembled the finest network of bakeries across the U.S., not all bakeries offer extensive custom decorations.

We also offer theme cakes and licensed character cakes at an additional charge. From baby shower and graduation themes to over-the-hill birthday cakes and retirement cakes, we can customize a cake to fit any occasion. Choose from a variety of themes such as golf, football, lighthouses, gardening, computers... or we can help you with ideas to fit the interests of your special people.

Cakes Across America's FrostingArt is created with the finest equipment and technology available, ensuring high quality printing for details as small as newsprint. Once we have received your image by email, we test the image, adjust if needed, add text, borders, and a background if requested. Then, your image is printed on frosting paper using a four-color printing process with food coloring and distributed to the bakers throughout the US who will bake and deliver your cakes ensuring a consistent image across the country.
