Our cakes are one-of-a-kind creations, baked and decorated by people, not machines. That's what makes them so wonderful! All menu items are subject to availability and the artistic interpretation of the baker in the receiver's area.
Freshness Guarantee
Because our cakes are baked fresh and delivered by the baker in the
receiver's local area, we are happy to offer our customers a Freshness
Guarantee.
Pricing
The chart below shows a summary of our pricing information. Further details
of the charges can be found on the item listingin the shopping cart or
by calling 1-800-422-5387.
Standard Personalization
Your message will be inscribed in icing on the cake as written in the Cake Message field of your order, within space limitations as defined in Cake Notes below. If you abbreviate words in your message when placing your order, the baker may abbreviate on the cake as well. Please spell out your message using correct grammar, capitalization and punctuation. Be sure to include the recipient's name in the custom cake message. For example, “Happy Birthday John”. Messages that are not family friendly may be modified.
Standard Decorations
Standard decorations include flowers, balloons, confetti, streamers
or generally festive along with a border or trim around the cake. We recommend
that you enter two colors of your choice or the baker’s array of
pastel, primary, jewel tones, vivid colors, or seasonal, holiday or occasion
colors when ordering. (For example, if you ask us to decorate for the
occasion, a baby shower cake would usually be decorated in pink and baby
blue.) Not all colors are available in all locations. Each cake is individually
decorated by the baker in the receiver’s area, so decorative styles
will vary.
Minimum Order
Minimum order is $50.
Availability
All requests and orders are subject to availability in the delivery area.
Substitutions
We reserve the right to substitute a like item of equal or greater value in order to fulfill your delivery. This may include, but is not limited to, upgrading your cake to include a filling, increasing the size or number of layers, and minor modifications to the cake, filling, or icing flavor if necessary. For example, if you have requested a yellow cake with white buttercream icing and lemon filling and our baker offers a specialty lemon cake with lemon icing, we may elect to upgrade your cake to the specialty of the baker.
Same Day Orders (Priority Rush Service)
Same day orders are very difficult to fulfill and require the Priority
Rush Service Fee. Please select the appropriate service fee when placing
your order online and we recommend that you call our Order Line
1-800-422-5387 to place your rush order. If we are unable to process
your request, we will credit your account for the difference in the fee.
Same Day charges apply to the following:
- Orders received Monday through Friday for delivery the same day
- Orders received Monday through Thursday after 12pm Noon EST for the next business day
- Orders received Friday after 12pm Noon EST for delivery Friday-Monday - and we may not be able to process your order in time.
- Same Day charges are also affected by holidays on which our offices are closed. Please see Legal Holidays for more information.
We are unable to process orders for delivery on Saturday, Sunday or Monday morning when received after 5pm Eastern Time on Friday. We are unable to process orders received after 5pm Eastern Time for Monday morning delivery, though Monday afternoon may be a possibility.
Next Day Orders (Rush Service)
Orders received before 12pm Noon EST for delivery on the next business
day will be subject to Rush/Next Day Service Fee. We recommend you call
our Order Line 1-800-422-5387 to place a Next Day order. (An order placed
on Friday after 12pm Noon EST for delivery on Monday would be subject
to the Same Day/Priority Rush fee.)
Hours of Operation
Our order lines are open Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Eastern
Standard Time. Our offices and order lines are closed on Saturday and
Sunday. You may send orders and special requests by email, fax or order
online at your convenience, however please note that orders submitted
after 12pm Noon EST on Friday, over the weekend, or on holidays will not
be processed until the next business day which may be Monday of the next
week.
Offices Closed Holidays and Weekends
Our offices are closed and orders are not processed on weekends and on the following holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day (Observed)
- 4 th of July (Observed)
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
Saturday Delivery
We offer Saturday deliveries in most areas. Orders for delivery on Saturday will be subject to an additional $5 charge.
Sunday Delivery
Sunday delivery is not available.
Holiday Orders
Holidays such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Christmas are a busy time for our bakers. Please order early for holiday deliveries. Holiday delivery is subject to availability in the receiver's area. Holiday orders are typically scheduled for delivery a few days prior to the holiday.
Holiday Deliveries
Most bakeries are closed on national holidays, therefore we are unable to schedule deliveries for those days. In special circumstances, we may be able to arrange a delivery. Additional charges will apply.
Surprise Deliveries Not Guaranteed
While we hope to make each cake delivery a special event, we typically call the receiver to confirm they will be available during the scheduled delivery time and discuss directions if needed. We generally tell the receiver we have a gift delivery for them. Often we must identify ourselves, and our company name or the bakery name may indicate the gift is a cake or bakery item. In addition, sometimes the receiver will ask the name of the person sending the gift. While surprises are fun, we must also be aware that people are understandably cautious and respect their concerns. If the gift must be a surprise, please enter the contact and delivery information for another person at the delivery address who can coordinate the delivery with the baker. We are unable to guarantee the surprise.
Receiver Availability
Please ensure the recipient will be available at the delivery address
on the selected delivery day. Unlike flowers, cakes and cookies cannot
be left at the door. Someone must be available to accept the gift. In
addition, we must be able to reach the recipient or an alternate contact
at the delivery address prior to delivery. Receiver’s cell phone
numbers are very useful in coordinating a delivery. If the baker is unable
to reach the receiver prior to delivery, the delivery may be delayed until
contact is made.
Attempted Delivery
If we attempt delivery and no one is available to accept the gift, the
gift will be taken back to the bakery and the receiver may make arrangements
to pick it up.
Cake Delivery Alternatives/Changes
At your request or at the baker's discretion, the gift may be left
with a responsible person such as a neighbor, security office, apartment
manager, etc. Otherwise, the cake or gift may be held at the bakery for
pick up.
Requests for Morning or Afternoon Delivery
We will make every effort to honor requests for morning or afternoon
delivery, or even a specific time whenever possible. This is more difficult
in peak delivery periods. Please note that since we work with independent
local bakers to individually bake, decorate and deliver each gift, the
time of delivery is subject to the bakery’s delivery schedule. Therefore,
we are unable to guarantee delivery time.
Changes to the Delivery Date or Time
Generally speaking the bakery will call the receiver of the gift to confirm availability and location. If the receiver and baker coordinate a preferred delivery date or time other than the date requested on the order, with or without notification to you, the order will still be considered appropriately fulfilled.
Delivery Times Outside of Normal Business Hours
Normal delivery hours for bakers are between 9 am and 5 pm in the baker’s
time zone. Requests for delivery outside the normal delivery times will
incur an additional charge if possible. We are unable to guarantee
delivery time.
Exceptional Delivery Requests
We are happy to do all we can to ensure an enjoyable cake delivery experience,
even with extreme requests. However, our prices reflect standard delivery
situations, and exceptional delivery requirements can be quite costly
if it is even possible for us to make the arrangements. If we are able
to meet your request for a delivery outside our normal service, an additional
charge to offset these expenses will apply.
Security/Military Bases/Gated Communities
Due to heightened security, such as for government buildings, office buildings, military bases, and private communities, we are unable to deliver to locations where our baker must pass through a security checkpoint.
Time Zone
Unless otherwise indicated, the requested delivery time will be that time period in the recipient's time zone. Cakes Across America operates in Eastern Time and observes daylight savings time.
Delivery Address
The delivery address and phone number are critical to the delivery. Please confirm the recipient's address and phone number including apartment number, area code, and zip code prior to placing your order. We are unable to deliver to P.O. Boxes or APOs. Receiver cell phone numbers are helpful for coordinating deliveries. Please provide as much information as possible on the delivery location including the name of the business, building, office complex, suite number, floor number, building number, subdivision or community name, apartment complex, dorm, hospital, retirement or assisted living facility, funeral home, or school.
Sugar Free Cakes/Egg Free/Wheat Free/Dairy Free Cakes/Kosher Cakes
Cakes are generally made from a variety of ingredients including sugar, butter, eggs and flour. Since we work with thousands of independent bakeries and cannot guarantee that any cake ordered will be free of these ingredients, we are unable to accept orders with such requests. We are also unable to guarantee kosher standards will be maintained.
Special Ingredients/Food Allergies
Many people have serious food allergies to common ingredients such as flour, dairy products, strawberries, nuts, etc. If you have any question about the possibility of a food allergy for your recipient, please discuss this with the receiver prior to placing your order.
Custom Shapes and Sizes
Custom shapes and sizes may be available. Special pricing will apply.
Freehand Art, Themes or Logos
Special pricing will apply to freehand drawing, themes or logos. Our representative will be happy to discuss options with you.
Decorative Sets and Pre-Printed Images
For children’s parties and common theme parties, we offer several
popular cake decorating sets and pre-printed images at an additional charge.

We request at least two weeks notice on Theme Pack orders. We may be able
to accommodate you in less time, however an additional Rush Fee on Decorative
Sets will apply. Each item is subject to availability in the receiver’s
area, and an alternate version of the same character may be substituted
if necessary.
FrostingArt
Pictures, logos, or any digital image or design can be reproduced on a
cake. FrostingArt is 100% edible and is produced with a four color printing
process with food coloring on frosting paper. Because the frosting paper
is an opaque white color, FrostingArt may only be placed on cakes with
white buttercream icing. Prices vary depending upon degree of difficulty
and length of notice. We prefer at least two weeks notice on individual
FrostingArt orders. For orders of less than 100 cakes, the order must
be confirmed and payment received a minimum of two weeks before delivery.
For orders of 100 or more, please call our staff for a timetable. Be sure
to call us well in advance to plan your own custom design.
Electronic Art
Acceptable formats for electronic art include .jpg, .bmp, .pdd, .gif, and .tif. Resolution should be approximately 150 dpi. The image size should be compatible with the printable dimensions of the FrostingArt sheet. An image that is too small with loose clarity when it is enlarged. Please see Cake Notes below for sizes. Images may be emailed or uploaded during the order process. Scanning is available in some cases in our offices and is generally included in the set-up fee. Please Contact Us for more information.
Virtual Cake/FrostingArt Proof/Samples
A virtual cake is an electronic representation of what your FrostingArt design might look like on a cake. Your image will be cut and pasted on an existing cake picture. This is not an exact replica of your cake as cake decorations vary depending on the baker in the delivery area. If your FrostingArt requires set-up or creative design work from our staff, we will request a contact person for input and approval of the design. A sample FrostingArt can be mailed to you at an additional charge. (Cake not included.)
Copyrighted Materials
We are unable to reproduce copyrighted materials, photos, designs, logos,
characters, slogans, etc. on cakes without the express written permission
of the copyright owner. However, we may be able to create a generic theme
to match your party decorations or the interests of the receiver of the
cake. We also offer several popular decorative sets and themes. Please
see our Order Now page for selections.
Customer Service
Customer service requests are handled during normal business hours.
If you have urgent question regarding a delivery outside of our normal
business hours, please leave a message on our Order Line at 1-800-422-5387.
Please leave your name and phone number, the receiver’s name and
phone number, the city, state and zip code of the delivery and the scheduled
delivery date along with your description of the situation. Calls are
monitored, and if we are able to resolve the issue for you outside of
normal hours, we will be happy to do so.
Refunds and Credits
Refund and credit requests are handled and resolved by our Customer
Service Team. Ours is a very subjective business making returns and credits
a particularly sensitive issue. Our company upholds generous customer
service guidelines and strives to provide equitable compensation to our
customers for each situation. All refunds and credits must be requested within 5 days.
Payment and Credit Terms
Payment is due at the time of order. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover as well as company checks in advance.
Multiple Orders - Corporate Orders
Orders for multiple locations for 100 items or more require additional
coordination and planning. Please call 1-800-422-5387 to discuss a timeline
for your order.
Deposit or Payment-in-Full
All orders less than $1000 require payment in full prior to acceptance
and confirmation of the order. With approved credit, we will accept a
50% deposit on orders of $1000 or more with the balance being paid a minimum
of five days prior to delivery.
Confirmed Status for Multiple Orders
Orders are considered confirmed when the payment or down payment is received or other terms or arrangements are made; all information including a complete and accurate database with all necessary contact, order setup and delivery information, and logos/artwork are received; any proofs approved; and all copy changes are completed.
Cancellations
Minimum 50% cancellation fee will apply to cancellation of orders.
Other charges may apply, subject to reasonable fees and costs incurred.
FrostingArt Cancellation
FrostingArt is non-refundable after the order is confirmed.
Federal ID or W-9
Our federal ID number or W-9 is available upon request.

Cake Notes
The Round
Round cakes can range in size from 5 inches to 12 inches and can be a single layer or many layers. We generally provide two layer round cakes that range from 8 to 10 inches in diameter. These sizes are the most popular size in the baking industry and ensure that we are providing an appropriate number of servings. Occasionally we will add a layer to a smaller cake to fulfill your order. By maintaining this kind of flexibility, we are able to offer you the specialty of the baker. The round cake generally holds three to five words. Just the right size to say Happy Birthday Dearest! The FrostingArt for this cake is a disc that is 7 inches in diameter.
The Quarter
Quarter Sheet cakes are, as the name describes, approximately one quarter
of the size of a full sheet cake. The dimensions are generally 9 X 12
inches and may come in single or multiple layers. Quarter sheet cakes
are typically rectangular making them a great choice on which to add graphics,
FrostingArt, or a nice message such as "Thanks for all your Support."
The FrostingArt for this cake is rectangular, and the printable area is
6.5” X 9”.
The Half
The Half Sheet cake is approximately 11 X 16 inches in size and is typically one layer, but some bakers may create two smaller layers so they can add a filling. The Half Sheet is a party size cake serving 30 to 40 people, perfect for office celebrations and easily decorated with creative messages such as - "Congratulations to the Team. Here's to Sweet Success." The FrostingArt for this cake is rectangular, and the printable area is 9.5” X 15.5”.
The Full
The Full Sheet cake is the choice for any grand event - approximately 18 X 24 inches in size and typically one layer. The Full Sheet can serve 70 to 80 people and is a wonderful centerpiece, perfect for grand openings or a celebration for the entire company. The Full Sheet can hold 10 to 12 words such as "In Appreciation for Your Continued Efforts to Be The Best". The FrostingArt for this cake is rectangular, and the printable area is 9.5” X 15.5”.
